Saturday, January 24th, 3pm and Saturday, February 7th, 3pm, HAMMER BAROQUE welcomes two Venetian-themed concerts:
Capella Intima presents “Risk and Reward at the Venetian Ridotto,” featuring music and readings based on the 1638 opening of La Serenissima’s first public gambling house. Themes of gaming, fate, victory, and compulsion are explored through music by the brightest lights of the 16th and 17th centuries, including Monteverdi, Grandi, Rossi, and Barbara Strozzi.
The Rezonance Baroque Ensemble returns next month with an instrumental “Venetian Carnival” programme, featuring music by Vivaldi, Castello, Uccellini, and Castaldi. Saturday, February 7th, 3pm at the Rock on Locke. Carnival masks are encouraged!
